One main goal of Healing Opportunities is to fund and staff a research team to carry out medical research in complementary medicine. By collaborating with other medical facilities, agencies, or physicians in the community, Healing Opportunities will foster positive dialogue, communication, and integration between complementary medicine and traditional Western medicine. Our latest project, the ear acupuncture program proposal for Cottage Hospital, will increase our efforts to integrate holistic healing into Western medicine. Nursing staff will receive stress management care through the NADA ear acupuncture protocol for stress and trauma in the workplace. Research will compile data measuring the efficacy of the integrative medicine technique in improving absenteeism, medication errors, and levels of depression and anxiety. To support our work with organizations like Cottage Hospital, see our Donate page.
Healing Opportunities seeks to create and promote educational programs that help raise awareness of the benefits of complementary medicine. By hosting Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Healing Opportunities offers training for acupuncturists and community members to learn integrative medicine techniques. Workshops have ranged from Aroma Acupoint Therapy, Qi Gong, and posture therapy to NADA ear acupuncture. Contact us to become a partner with education.
Currently, we treat first responders and community members for stress and trauma through the Medical Reserve Corps and Doctors without Walls-Santa Barbara Street Medicine. See our Get Involved page for more information about how to help provide treatment to the community. Our Sundays in Service program offers complimentary acupuncture to all practitioners and their staff to practices in Santa Barbara quarterly on the second Sunday of each month. Healing Opportunities also endeavors to fund complementary medical treatment of patients in need, regardless of income. Please contact us if you have a program or patient you would like to sponsor.
